LeBron James meeting with 76ers, per report

LeBron James is meeting with the Philadelphia 76ers in Los Angeles on Sunday, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

All signs have pointed to James signing with the Los Angeles Lakers, but the future of any potential deal with the Lakers remains in the balance after Paul George decided to sign with the Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday, killing the potential of a union in the West.

It’s unclear how seriously James is considering an overture from the 76ers, but if completed would elevate the team from Eastern Conference contender to odds-on favorite to win in 2018-19 with LeBron, Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons on a talented, youthful roster.

Even considering George’s decision to stay with the Thunder there’s plenty to indicate LeBron would prefer to play in Los Angeles. The 14-time NBA All-Star is making a foray into the entertainment industry with Space Jam 2 being announced, and his son Bronny is linked to Sierra Canyon high school in Los Angeles where he will continue his basketball career.

It’s uncertain if the Lakers can surround James with enough talent, but it’s been reported that Spurs’ star Kawhi Leonard wants to be traded to Los Angeles — creating an appealing landing spot for James.
